One Killed in Attack at Zijin’s Buritica Gold Mine, Colombia Mining Group Says

BOGOTA, May ⁠28 (Reuters) – ⁠Colombia’s national ⁠mining association ​on Thursday reported ‌that an ‌attack ⁠at ⁠Zijin Gold’s Buritica mine had ​left one worker dead ​and another injured.

Zijin did ⁠not ⁠immediately respond ⁠to a ​request for comment.

Last ​year ⁠the firm had to ⁠temporarily pause production at the country’s largest ⁠gold mine after an armed group of illegal miners broke into the ⁠site and damaged a power source with homemade ​bombs.
