SYDNEY, May 28 (Reuters) – The Australian Broadcasting \u2060Corporation \u2060has appointed a senior \u2060Reuters executive, Simon Robinson, as its director of \u200bnews and current affairs, the two news organisations said on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Robinson, \u200cnow executive editor at \u200cReuters, will start with the Australian public broadcaster in September, \u2060ABC \u2060Managing Director Hugh Marks said in a statement released on \u200bthe ABC’s website.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A London-based Australian national, Robinson replaces Justin Stevens, who resigned from the ABC on Wednesday after four years in the \u200brole, citing personal and professional reasons.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Robinson will be replaced by Nick \u2060Tattersall, \u2060Reuters global managing editor, \u2060newsroom, \u200bReuters Editor-in-Chief Alessandra Galloni said in a note to staff.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Before his \u200bappointment as executive editor \u2060in October 2022, Robinson, who joined Reuters in 2010, ran investigations and enterprise reporting in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for just under seven years, editing award-winning series on \u2060Iran, Russia, corporate taxation, Greek banks and migration.<\/p>\n

Between 1995 and 2010, \u2060Robinson was a correspondent, then editor for Time magazine, reporting from more than 50 countries in Africa, South Asia, the Middle East and Europe. He has published short stories and written and produced an award-winning satirical movie about aid workers and journalists in Africa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Robinson’s appointment to the ABC was first reported by the Guardian in Australia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Reuters, \u2060a unit of Thomson Reuters, has more than 2,600 journalists reporting from 200 locations around the world, 50 million monthly digital users and hundreds of thousands of professional \u200busers via Thomson Reuters and LSEG products.<\/p>\n
