July 26 (Reuters) – At least \u2060two \u2060people were killed \u2060and five others, including a 2-year-old \u200bchild, were wounded on Sunday in a shooting \u200cat a downtown Seattle \u200cfood festival, local news outlets reported, \u2060with \u2060the U.S. city’s mayor’s office saying a suspect\u00a0had been \u200btaken into custody.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Seattle Times\u00a0and local TV station KOMO, citing the Seattle Fire Department, reported the death and injury toll. \u2060Witnesses told the\u00a0Times\u00a0they heard several shots around 6 p.m. \u2060local time (0100 GMT).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“What happened at the Seattle Center today was an act of horrific violence,” Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson said in a statement, adding a suspect had been taken into custody. “Impacted families are living through the worst moment of their \u2060lives, and an entire community is trying to understand how a gathering built around culture, connection, and joy ended in gunfire.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
