{"id":755,"date":"2026-07-23T04:41:06","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T04:41:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=755"},"modified":"2026-07-23T04:41:06","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T04:41:06","slug":"musk-keeps-tesla-spacex-merger-speculation-alive-cites-growing-overlap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=755","title":{"rendered":"Musk Keeps Tesla-SpaceX Merger Speculation Alive, Cites Growing Overlap"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>By Akash Sriram and Chris Kirkham<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>July 22 (Reuters) &#8211; Tesla CEO Elon \u2060Musk \u2060on Wednesday left the door open \u2060to the EV maker merging with his other trillion-dollar-plus-valued firm SpaceX, declining to dismiss \u200bthe possibility and citing growing overlap between the companies.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=753\">GEO Group Worker Charged With Assault in Shooting of ICE Protester in Colorado<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cAs you can tell from the many collaborations on so many fronts \u200cwith SpaceX, there\u2019s more and more overlap,\u201d \u200cMusk said on Tesla&#8217;s earnings call.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cWe can&#8217;t talk about, you know, combining companies and that kind of thing \u2060on an earnings \u2060call,&#8221; he added. &#8220;It\u2019s got to be done with the appropriate process.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Investors and analysts \u200bhave long speculated about the possibility of combining Musk\u2019s electric vehicle and space firms, with the discussion intensifying during SpaceX&#8217;s record $75 billion initial public offering process.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>After Musk&#8217;s comments, he called on Tesla General Counsel Brandon Ehrhart, who stuck to boilerplate language calling \u200bSpaceX a \u201cgreat partner\u201d that provides \u201cnumerous beneficial transactions.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Gene Munster, managing partner at Tesla investor Deepwater Asset Management, said the \u2060call \u2060left him more convinced the \u2060companies were destined \u200bto be joined over the next few years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;I would put the odds that these two will combine at \u200b90% today,&#8221; he said in \u2060a video posted on social media. &#8220;If you were going to ask me yesterday I would have said it&#8217;s 80%.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Tesla already supplies batteries and manufacturing technologies for some SpaceX projects, while the companies are jointly developing Terafab, a semiconductor manufacturing facility designed to produce AI chips.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=752\">Tropical Storm Bertha Makes Landfall in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Proponents argue that combining the companies could simplify Musk&#8217;s corporate empire and create a more \u2060integrated company spanning artificial intelligence, robotics, manufacturing, energy and space infrastructure.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>JPMorgan analysts said this month that &#8220;operational \u2060integration between the two entities is already deep,&#8221; citing shared engineering talent, AI infrastructure, Terafab and Musk&#8217;s leadership as factors that &#8220;would facilitate an eventual combination.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Stifel analysts struck an even more bullish note, writing that &#8220;many investors consider it inevitable that Musk will move to combine SpaceX with Tesla \u2014 for them the question is not if but when.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>SpaceX President and Chief Operating Officer Gwynne Shotwell has also acknowledged potential benefits, telling CNBC in June that folding the companies together &#8220;might make Elon&#8217;s life a little easier&#8221; by streamlining management across his businesses.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Others, however, caution that any transaction could face formidable hurdles.
