{"id":713,"date":"2026-07-22T04:14:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T04:14:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=713"},"modified":"2026-07-22T04:14:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T04:14:12","slug":"us-tentatively-decides-to-ban-imports-of-some-military-grade-drones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=713","title":{"rendered":"US Tentatively Decides to Ban Imports of Some Military-Grade Drones"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>By David Shepardson<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>July 21 (Reuters) &#8211; The Federal Communications \u2060Commission \u2060said on Tuesday it \u2060had tentatively decided to ban the import of some \u200bforeign-produced military-grade drones, including swarming drones and drones with infrared technology.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=711\">Union for United Airlines\u2019 Mechanics, Other Staff, Secures In-Principle Pact for New Contract<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The FCC in December \u200cbarred all new models of \u200cforeign drones from imports but then issued a series of exemptions \u2060for some \u2060drones and drone components that were not produced in China. \u200bThe FCC said on Tuesday it would extend those exemptions until January 2028.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The prohibitions would not apply to any drones purchased or imported by the federal government \u200bor to non-military-grade drones or critical components.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The FCC said swarm-enabled drones &#8220;can overwhelm \u2060defenses, provide \u2060persistent surveillance, and create \u2060complex \u200boperational challenges that strain traditional air defense systems, which pose significant risks to \u200bpublic safety and national \u2060security.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The order, if finalized after being open to public comments for 30 days, would not affect continued use or operation of already-purchased drones.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The Chinese embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>President Donald \u2060Trump&#8217;s administration has mounted a sweeping crackdown on Chinese technology gear.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=709\">US Military Training to Suffer Without Funding Boost, Hegseth Says<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Last month, \u2060the FCC banned the import of more equipment from a group of Chinese manufacturers effective July 16.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>China-based DJI, the world&#8217;s largest dronemaker, filed a lawsuit in February challenging the FCC drone import ban decision.
