Companies seeking a waiver will need to prove \u200bthey searched for alternatives, disclose the origins of their materials and provide a plan to reduce reliance on prohibited suppliers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Contractors that fail to comply with the new requirements could face procurement consequences, including the loss of contract opportunities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;No \u200bmore: &#8216;we tried nothing and we&#8217;re out of options&#8217;,&#8221; Peter Navarro, the White House senior counselor for \u2060trade and \u2060manufacturing, told reporters during a \u2060briefing before \u200bthe executive order was released.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Shares of MP Materials, in which the Pentagon has an investment of about \u200b15%, turned positive after the \u2060news and closed 1% higher at $45.70 on Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>PENTAGON PUSHES SUPPLY-CHAIN OVERHAUL<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The Pentagon has been pushing\u00a0defense contractors like Lockheed Martin and Boeing to rapidly expand weapons production while trying to identify and eliminate vulnerabilities buried deep inside the military supply chain.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Many critical minerals and processed materials used in missiles, aircraft and other advanced systems \u2060still rely on Chinese suppliers, leaving companies caught between demands to reduce dependence on Beijing \u2060and the urgent need to keep weapons flowing to U.S. forces and allies.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=671\">How PayPal Went From Wall Street Favorite to Unwilling Merger Target<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>China has gradually restricted access to critical minerals and used supply chains as leverage.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The Trump administration is seeking to pull back the curtain on a defense supply chain that can stretch through dozens of suppliers before reaching the company that builds the final weapon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>MAPPING THE INDUSTRIAL BASE<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The order directs the Pentagon to map those lower tiers of the industrial base, giving officials a clearer view of where critical minerals, components and other materials originate and whether foreign-controlled suppliers could threaten \u2060weapons production during a conflict.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;This is not paperwork.
