{"id":595,"date":"2026-07-16T04:10:31","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T04:10:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=595"},"modified":"2026-07-16T04:10:31","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T04:10:31","slug":"ex-federal-reserve-adviser-sentenced-to-prison-for-lying-about-china-ties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=595","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Federal Reserve Adviser Sentenced to Prison for Lying About China Ties"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>By Kanishka Singh<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>WASHINGTON, July 15 (Reuters) &#8211; A former \u2060senior \u2060adviser to the U.S. Federal \u2060Reserve was sentenced to 38 months in federal prison \u200bfor making false statements to investigators about sharing restricted information related to the central \u200cbank with Chinese intelligence operatives, \u200cthe Justice Department said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=594\">Soccer-Argentina Late Show Sinks England and Sets up World Cup Final Against Spain<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>John Harold Rogers, 64, was arrested in \u2060early 2025 \u2060on charges he conspired to steal Fed trade secrets for \u200bthe benefit of China, prosecutors said at the time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>In his trial, a federal jury deliberated for two days before finding Rogers guilty on February 3 &#8220;of making false statements \u200bto government investigators at the Office of Inspector General for the Board of \u2060Governors \u2060of the Federal Reserve \u2060System and \u200bthe Consumer Financial Protection Bureau,&#8221; the Justice Department said in a statement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;John Rogers \u200bspent years secretly funneling \u2060sensitive Federal Reserve information to Chinese spies, then looked investigators in the eye and lied about it. And when that wasn&#8217;t enough, he lied again under oath at trial,&#8221; U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>In addition to the prison \u2060sentence, Judge Dabney Friedrich ordered Rogers to serve 12 months of supervised release. \u2060Federal prosecutors had requested a 60-month prison term.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=592\">Fujimori\u2019s Mining Push Could Spur Unrest in Peru, Study Says<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Rogers worked as a senior adviser in the Fed&#8217;s division of international finance from 2010 until 2021.
