{"id":517,"date":"2026-07-13T14:11:29","date_gmt":"2026-07-13T14:11:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=517"},"modified":"2026-07-13T14:11:29","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T14:11:29","slug":"trump-invested-crypto-gains-in-stocks-and-bonds-filings-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=517","title":{"rendered":"Trump Invested Crypto Gains in Stocks and Bonds, Filings Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>By Tom Bergin<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>July 13 (Reuters) &#8211; President\u00a0Donald Trump\u2019s financial disclosures show that even as he and his two eldest sons \u2060were \u2060encouraging investors to plow their money into crypto projects \u2014 which \u2060resulted in\u00a0steep losses for retail buyers\u00a0\u2014 his money managers were investing a significant portion of\u00a0the proceeds into safer harbors.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=515\">Person Killed in ICE-Involved Shooting in Maine, Media Reports<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Trump received more than $1.4 billion \u200blast year from his family\u2019s crypto projects, including World Liberty Financial and the Trump meme coin, his latest financial disclosures filed with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics show.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>A Reuters analysis of his holdings over the past two \u200cyears shows that his portfolios of stocks and bonds \u200cincreased at least fourfold as the crypto money flooded in. The president held between $703 million and $2.6 billion in such traditional financial instruments at the end of 2025, compared with between $225 million and $608 million at the end \u2060of 2024.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The filings report holdings \u2060with ranges instead of exact figures. Reuters was unable to determine exactly how\u00a0the money he reported earning from crypto \u200bwas allocated to less risky assets.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>While Trump has held on to some of his crypto proceeds, nine\u00a0digital asset experts who reviewed the Reuters analysis said the Republican president\u2019s filings show the personal economic activity of a man who does not trust crypto as a primary store of his personal wealth. In addition to the meme coin and World Liberty, Trump did not report having bought shares in two publicly listed crypto firms that are backed by his sons \u200bEric Trump and Donald Trump Jr.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cAlthough the President talks about digital assets as the frontier of finance and making the United States the crypto capital of the world, the disclosure form \u2060suggests \u2060his personal strategy is to make a \u2060quick buck from crypto \u2014 through the sale \u200bof his meme coin and World Liberty tokens \u2014 but then invest his profits in traditional assets like stocks and bonds,\u201d said Timothy Massad, director of the Digital Assets Policy \u200bProject at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at \u2060Harvard University. Massad previously served as chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which has regulatory jurisdiction over some crypto assets, under the administration of President Barack Obama, a Democrat.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>A Reuters report last month found that retail investors in the four main Trump-backed crypto projects\u00a0had lost $2.3 billion as of April.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>TRUMP ORG SAYS IT MAINTAINS CONSERVATIVE BALANCE SHEET<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Trump\u2019s filing shows he still has large numbers of digital tokens issued by World Liberty Financial,\u00a0which the president and his sons co-founded,\u00a0and has increased his overall exposure to digital currencies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>As of the end of last year, Trump held 15.75 billion World Liberty crypto governance tokens, listed at a value of more than $50 million. \u2060He received the tokens in return for his involvement in the company. As a co-founder of the company, he is committed to a longer \u2060vesting schedule than the general public for selling those personal holdings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The Trump companies responsible\u00a0for managing the president&#8217;s interest in World Liberty Financial and the Trump meme coin project held at least $160\u00a0million in bitcoin and ether, the two most popular cryptocurrencies, and up to $6 million in other tokens at the end of 2025, according to the president\u2019s disclosure.\u00a0That amount represented a large increase over the $1 million to $5 million in\u00a0ether tokens Trump reported having at the end of 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=514\">Analysis-An Emboldened India Holds Out for Better Terms in US Trade Talks<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>In a statement, a spokesperson for the family business said the president\u2019s financial disclosure \u201cdemonstrates that The Trump Organization continues to maintain a strong financial position, supported by world class, valuable assets, substantial liquidity and a conservative balance sheet.\u201d The spokesperson did not comment on why the president had invested crypto proceeds in traditional financial assets like stocks and bonds.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The White House said in a statement to Reuters that the president\u2019s assets are held in \u201cfully discretionary accounts managed by independent third-party financial institutions.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>A spokesman for World Liberty, David Wachsman, said, &#8220;World Liberty has been built for the long-term and we strongly believe the future of financial services will be \u2060architected with digital asset technology.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>TRUMP SONS PROMOTE CRYPTO<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Trump\u2019s children oversee the trust that manages the president\u2019s money and have served as leading advocates of the investment prospects of the Trump-backed crypto projects.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Since November 2024, Eric Trump, who runs the Trump Organization, the umbrella organization that sits atop the president\u2019s business operations, has repeatedly said in media interviews and at conferences that bitcoin, the most popular cryptocurrency, is \u201cthe greatest asset\u201d of modern times and that it would hit $1 million in value, up from around $64,000 at current prices.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Eric Trump said last year \u200bthat his father, the president, also \u201cbelieved in digital assets in a big way.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Neither Eric Trump nor Donald Trump Jr. responded to requests for comment about the \u200bpresident\u2019s investments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>(Reporting by Tom Bergin in London; Editing by Paritosh Bansal, Tom Lasseter and Matthew Lewis)<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=512\">Analysis-Pesticide Makers Stack Wins Against US Environmental, Public Health Groups<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><b>Copyright 2026 Thomson Reuters<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>US News is a recognized leader in college, grad school, hospital, mutual fund, and car rankings.
