{"id":442,"date":"2026-07-08T21:09:29","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T21:09:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=442"},"modified":"2026-07-08T21:09:29","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T21:09:29","slug":"trump-to-remove-syria-from-us-terrorism-sponsor-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=442","title":{"rendered":"Trump to Remove Syria From US Terrorism Sponsor List"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>By Gram Slattery, Bo Erickson and Steve \u2060Holland<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>ANKARA\/WASHINGTON, \u2060July 8 (Reuters) &#8211; President Donald Trump \u2060on Wednesday informed his Syrian counterpart Ahmed al-Sharaa that he \u200bhad decided to remove the country from the U.S. list of designated state sponsors \u200cof terrorism.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=440\">Today\u2019s News: Graham Platner\u2019s Pressure and Trump\u2019s White House Helipad<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;I promised to remove \u200call barriers stopping you from rebuilding your country, and very soon, you will \u2060finally be \u2060able to do so,&#8221; Trump wrote in a letter to \u200bSharaa seen by Reuters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;We have U.S. companies ready to invest in Syria and help make your country greater and more prosperous than ever before,&#8221; he added in the letter that \u200ba senior U.S. administration official said was handed to Sharaa after their \u2060meeting in \u2060Ankara on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Trump said \u2060he had \u200bnotified Congress, which will now conduct a 45-day review before the decision can \u200btake effect.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The designation as \u2060a state sponsor of terrorism carries restrictions on U.S. foreign assistance, defense exports and certain financial transactions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Syria Central Bank Governor Safwat Raslan said the move by the U.S. opens wider aspects of investments and economic recovery and the reintegration of \u2060Syria into the global economy, according to a post on Telegram.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/officemovingamerica.com\/?p=438\">Will the U.S. Get a Red Card at NATO?<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Last year Trump \u2060signed an executive order terminating a U.S. sanctions program on Syria, allowing an end to the country&#8217;s isolation from the international financial system.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Several Saudi firms are planning billion-dollar investments as part of Riyadh&#8217;s efforts to support its recovery, while other Gulf states have also pledged financial assistance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Trump on Wednesday complimented Sharaa, who was a commander of al Qaeda&#8217;s Nusra Front in Syria before cutting ties with the group in 2016.
