TORONTO, June 19 (Reuters) – \u2060Canadian \u2060billionaire businessman Frank Stronach \u2060was found guilty on Friday of one count \u200bof sexual assault and one count of indecent assault, in a \u200cjudgment where the judge \u200cdescribed some of his behavior as \u201cgross and disgusting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police arrested and \u2060charged \u2060Stronach in 2024 with criminal offenses, including sexual assault and \u200brape, for alleged crimes dating from the 1970s to 2024.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Austrian-born Stronach, 93, founded Canadian auto parts company Magna International in 1957 and \u200blater became one of the country\u2019s richest people. Magna said it \u2060has \u2060had no affiliation with \u2060Stronach \u200bsince he relinquished control of the company in 2010.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After a trial \u200bthat began in February, \u2060Ontario Superior Court Justice Anne Molloy found Stronach guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in the early 1980s. The woman alleged the assault occurred when she visited his Toronto condo \u2060after having dinner nearby.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Molloy also found Stronach guilty on one charge \u2060of indecent assault in the late 1970s, involving a woman who said he groped her at his condo.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stronach did not testify during the trial. Molloy found Stronach not guilty on other charges, including attempted rape and rape.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Leora Shemesh, one of Stronach\u2019s lawyers, said in an email that they are \u201cextremely happy\u201d that other serious charges, rape and \u2060more counts of sexual assault, he had been facing were dismissed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“We are disappointed by the convictions on the two very minor offenses,” she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Stronach will be sentenced later. \u200bHe faces another sexual assault trial next year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
