TORONTO, June 1 (Reuters) – Less \u2060than \u2060two weeks before \u2060the World Cup kicks off, \u200bToronto Police announced on Monday that they \u200cmade the largest known \u200cseizure of counterfeit soccer jerseys \u2060in \u2060Canadian history.<\/p>\n

Officers seized over C$3.5 million ($2.53 million) worth \u200bof counterfeit merchandise from a Mississauga warehouse, they said, including more than 16,000 \u200bfraudulent jerseys and flags bearing fake FIFA, \u2060Nike, \u2060Adidas and Puma branding, \u2060as \u200bwell as two counterfeit World Cup trophies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Two \u200bmen have \u2060been arrested and charged, the police said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Toronto is expecting more than 300,000 visitors during the World Cup with \u2060six matches to be played in the city, including \u2060Canada’s opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12.<\/p>\n
